Q. Can anyone tell me if this bike carrier can be used on a 4x4 with a spare wheel on the back, is there enough clearance, i only need to carry 3 bikes and could buy the 4 bike and leave one empty if this would make a difference.

A. You can use this cycle carrier on a vehicle with a spare wheel fitted to the back of your vehicle, however you will lose one bike space on the carrier. If you wish to carry 3 bikes then you will require one of the Thule 929 G6 Cycle carriers, with a 928-1 bike adaptor and a spare wheel adaptor. Just been away with my husband and two children on a biking holiday, the Explorer is a really good bike carrier. Fits my Swan Neck towbar and doesn't need any adaptors for our 7 pin electrics. Fantastic product!

Another good thing was that all the clamp arms are locking which locks th bikes to the rack, which is something I didn't see on any of the other cycle carriers.
