This latest addition to the top quality range of Thule kayak carriers has been designed to make the loading and unloading of your kayak much easier. The carrier has  wide angle, tiltable cradles making fitting and removing the kayak much quicker and safer. The carrier is very quick and easy to fit to the roof rack, using the top track of the Thule SlideBar, WingBar or AeroBar, and gripping around the SquareBar.

The NEW Thule K-Guard kayak carrier is equipped with lockable straps that lock your kayak to the carrier, and the carrier to your car. The straps contain a highly durable steel core wire which effectively prevents theft.

For 2011/12, Freya Hoffmeister, the now famous kayaker, also known as ‘The Woman In Black’ is kayaking clockwise around the whole of South America.

Thule is proud sponsor of Freya Hoffmeister, arguably one of the World’s most adventurous sea kayakers. This German superwoman as taken on some of the most challenging waters on Earth, from Greenland to Australia – and keeps pushing her limits.

Having paddled her sea kayak around Iceland and New Zealand’s South Island in record time in 2007, she set out for an unbelievably tough trip in 2009: to paddle her kayak solo and mostly unsupported around Australia. A truly exceptional achievement.

Still, there are more waters to conquer, more continents to challenge for Freya and her kayak. Since September 2011, she has taken on a second continent – South America. In her sea kayak, Freya is paddling an unbelievable distance of 24,000 km, thats right , 24,000km clockwise along the coastline of South America, and will pass twelve countries and cross the equator twice before she passes the finishing line in Buenos Aires in May 2014. Following the huge success of the ZX400 4 bike cycle carrier, we are delighted to announce the introduction of Witters new improved and innovative 2nd generation 4 bike cycle carrier, the ZX404.

The ZX404 is a genuine 4 cycle carrier (not a 3 plus 1) which attaches to the most secure fixing point available on any vehicle, a permanent plate mounted behind the tow ball.

Weighing in at 19.6 kilos it is much lighter than its predecessor and among the lightest products of its type on the market. This has been achieved with the introduction of many aluminium components and a re-design of the chassis which has reduced weight without compromising strength and durability.

The ZX404 is designed and tested to carry up to 4 cycles with the total weight of cycles not to exceed 65 kilos.

Lower weight makes the ZX404 easier to mount to the car, in addition there are a number of new features to make it quicker, easier and safer to mount and transport your cycles.

Wheel holders can be multi-adjusted on the aluminium rails to accommodate adult and child cycles, the holders are shaped to eliminate cycle side sway and have quick-action ratchet straps to securely anchor the wheels to the carrier.

Cycle frames are also well cared for on the ZX404. The cycles are kept apart during transit with rigid aluminium arms and each cycle is held securely by a clever, fast- action ratchet strap system. The straps, complete with soft rubber insert, wrap completely around the chosen securing point on the cycle, and then tighten with a finger tip action on the ratchet. Full rotation of the head of the securing arm offers almost unlimited choices of securing points on the cycles.

The ZX404 has a tilt function which can be foot operated, the tilt allows access to the vehicle while cycles are in place. A unique security feature on the ZX404 is the “tilt – latch – indicator” which at a glance shows that the carrier has been fully and securely returned to its travelling position after tilt.

An all new lighting system has been installed which includes UK fog light and reverse lights linked to a 13 pin socket. A 7 pin adaptor is included.

The permanent mounting plate comes complete with a heavy duty “lock-eye”. Using a single cable lock (not supplied), cycles can be secured to the carrier, and the carrier secured to the car all in one action.

The ZX404 requires a modest level of first assembly (about 20 minutes) plus the fitting of the permanent mounting plate to the tow bar with the bolts provided.

New bicycle racks from Thule – designed by the world’s toughest athletes

The Thule Adventure Team – one of the world’s most premier multi-sport teams – has designed four bicycle racks that further expand on proven concepts and innovations from Thule. The new products will be introduced in limited quantities in Fall 2011 (2012 to the UK).

“We are dependent on high performance bicycle racks so that we can reach remote and often inaccessible places where we train and compete, and we have high demands on functionality and design. With Thule’s innovative products, transportation is smooth and secure – but just like in our sports training, there are always things that can be improved. We have therefore added new functions and materials that make the bicycle racks even more attractive to both professionals and novices,” says Martin Flinta, Team Captain for Thule Adventure Team.

…..Nearly two years since its creation, the team is one of the best in the world…..

The multi-sport Thule Adventure Team was created by Thule to challenge the very best in some of the hardest, most extreme adventure racing and multi-sport competitions in the world. Nearly two years since its creation, the team is one of the best in the world – with several prizes in the larger races in 2010-2011.

The team was given a free hand, together with Thule’s designers and creators, when asked to develop a special edition of their favourite products. The results are two roof mounted and two towbar-mounted bicycle racks. Using the team’s knowledge and experience, the products are equipped with new functions and design with characteristic green Thule Adventure Team details. The bicycle racks also come with rubber components that carefully protect the bicycle wheels.

The new products are:
- Thule Proway – towbar-mounted bicycle rack that is based on the Thule 921 Euroway G2
- Thule Propower – towbar-mounted bicycle rack that is based on the Thule 916 Europower
- Thule Cross – roof-mounted bicycle rack that is based on the Thule 591 ProRide
- Thule Race – roof-mounted bicycle rack that is based on the Thule 561 OutRide

The bicycle racks were introduced August 31, 2011 at the EuroBike trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Limited quantities will be sold and only at selected stores, beginning March 2012.

Mont Blanc Triton Roof box – A super top box with a glossy finish and nice amount of space inside.

The Triton is described by Mont Blanc as being part of their Performance range, the Triton roof box is quick to mount to your roof bars, it looks great and has 3 point central locking. It also has a massive amount of internal space which is perfect for luggage (Triton 650 has 620 Litres), camping equipment and any other bits and pieces that you want to store inside.

Another nice feature of the Triton is its aerodynamic profile, this is a box which has been specially designed to sit lower than most other roof boxes. This increases the overall fuel efficiency of the whole system, which is perfect for a long journey ahead. The shape also suits most modern cars and MPV’s and won’t look out of place on top of your car.

The Mont Blanc Triton comes in a range of sizes to suit your requirements, the smallest Triton 350 is available in Metallic Black or Glossy Silver and is perfect for carrying tents, small push chairs and other luggage. This roof box is an ideal companion to smaller sized hatchback vehicles such as a VW Golf, or a Vauxhall Astra.

The next size up is the Triton 400 which is also available in gloss black and a glossy silver finish, has 390 litres of load space. Quite a bit longer than the Triton 350 roof box, the Triton 400 has 226 cm’s length which is ideal for ski’s but can also be used as a half width roof box at 65 cm’s width, you can mount your bike or kayak racks next to it.

Triton 450 Roof Box
The Mont Blanc Triton 450 comes in glossy silver and metallic black colours to match the colour of your vehicle. It is an ideal shape and size for most camping and skiing trips away with a 430 litre capacity, it has just under 2 metres of length and 85 cm’s of width which matches the roof dimensions of most medium sized hatchback, saloon and estate vehicles. The Triton 450 has ample room for a large buggy, large tent and most other equipment and gear that you want to put away. It is really easy to load and unload, the gas struts stay out of the way enabling you to get to load the whole are inside the roof box with no problems.

Triton 500
The next size up from the 450 is the Triton 500 roof box. Available in Blue, Black and Silver Gloss. It has a very large (490) Litre capacity and an interior length of 216 cm’s, basically this roof box is perfect for travelling away to Europe with a dual side opening feature and masses of storage space. Whether its skiing in the Alps or camping in the Ardeche, the Triton 500 Roof box will not let you down. Its strong ABS lid fabrication stays strong in windy conditions and the gentle gas struts mean that the lid wont slam close. 3 Point central locking means that the Triton roof box lid is secure the whole way along its opening making this a very secure roof box indeed.

Mont Blanc Triton 650 Roof Box – Dual Side Opening
Last but by no means least, in the Triton range is the Triton 650 roof box with 620 Litres. This roof box has a dual side opening feature which is incredibly useful for travel overseas where you may be driving on the right or the left hand side of the road. It comes in the normal black or glossy silver colour, but this year has seen the introduction of the white Triton 650 roof box.

The new white Triton roof box has all the great features as the standard black and silver colours, but is one of the only manufactured boxes to stick with the new popular colouration on vehicles, Pearlescent or True white. It is a difficult task to choose a roof box when there are so many to choose from, although at Carracks we have comprehensive range which are well organised into manufacturer and size range.

The Thule Slide bars fit in a very similar way to most other bars with the relevant foot packs, the bars merely slide onto the foot packs raised groove. Once the bars are in the correct position you can lock the bars into place as you would normally. The aerodynamic profile of the slide bar is not quite as apparent on the slide bar, as the design and its functionality mean that the bar is much bulkier and heavier than the Thule Aero Bar. However it has the most functional design and the technology used to design it is non apparent in most other product lines. If you want a product that nobody else has, then the Thule Slide Bars are the product for you.
